Out Wellington plans LGBT youth art exhibition

Tue 24 Nov 2009 In: New Zealand Daily News

Out Wellington Inc., the organisers of the Capital's Out in the Square and Proud festival, are seeking artworks by creative young LGBT people to feature in two upcoming exhibitions. "We're looking for stories that shock and enlighten," says Out Wellington's co-chair Andy Boreham. "There are so many stories to be told, and painted and digital art are such powerful mediums." The exhibitions, scheduled to take place during Proud 2010 and in a stand-alone event at Thistle Gallery next April, will showcase works by young artists based on their experiences coming out, being LGBT, and others issues relating to sexuality. Interested artists, who "don't even need prior experience", can find out more by contacting Boreham by email: andy@frozenflame.co.nz. Meanwhile, Out Wellington is also looking to borrow rainbow flags. Email the address above if you have any to loan out.
