The proud owner of a new iPhone from Get it On! crew says "I'm a student nurse and cash is very tight so winning a new phone is just great." iPhone draw: Get it On!'s Nathan Brown (left) with scrutinisers GayNZ.com's Matt Akersten online and text message entries into the contest, which was drawn at the NZAF offices in Auckland last week. Five people won Get it On! T-Shirt and condom packs, but 26-year-old North Tech student Andre Gordon-Ruddell won the main prize. "I can't believe I won the iPhone," he says. "I've not won anything for a very long time, so this is a great feeling." Gordon-Ruddell says he's been with his partner for over eight years. The couple are civil unioned - and still practise safe sex. "I've always been paranoid about what could happen if I didn't use a condom and I've always used them, from my very first sexual experience to this day," he explains. "I have always lived by the mantra 'no glove, no love'. "I work in the health industry so infections are rife. Before that I worked as a hairdresser and again, you had no idea what people had so if you cut yourself you always had the risk of picking something up. From the very first day of hairdressing I always have gone for regular tests just in case, now I am in the health industry I keep on going." Matt Creamer of the Get it On! team describes the response to their iPhone competition as "amazing". "We're delighted about how Andre is helping to Get it On! Using condoms every time he has sex with his husband is a real achievement and deserves to be celebrated, and we're delighted to be able to give him an iPhone. "Everyone has a part to play in preventing the spread of HIV, and by using condoms every time he has sex Andre's helping Get it On! build a condom culture across New Zealand."
