Glenn Mills, the man charged with knowingly exposing fourteen young male and female sex partners to HIV, is now the subject of a 'suspect compulsion application' to be heard at Auckland's High Court. The hearing is scheduled to take place on 24 March, and if the application - which has been lodged by the crown prosecution - is successful, blood from those involved in the case, including Mills himself, may be taken and tested to become evidence in a criminal trial. Mills, 40, is also set to appear at the District Court again on Monday 30 November. Judge Jan Doogue - who has been called away on an overseas engagement but will return next week - will deliver what was described this morning as a "14 page interim ruling" which has been completed, although the subject of the ruling was not given this morning. Mills appeared briefly before Judge Anne Keirnan at the Auckland District Court this morning where it was accepted by both the prosecution and defence that a depositions hearing should be held as soon as possible after 30 November, subject to witnesses' and lawyers' availability. The depositions hearing is likely to take a full week. Mills looked calm and well groomed in court this morning, wearing the same clothes he has been seen in for previous appearances. He was arrested on 28 May shortly after GayNZ.com revealed concerns emerging in the gay communities that an HIV positive man had been exposing his sex partners to the virus. He faces 28 charges relating to fourteen young sex partners he contacted primarily through internet dating sites, some of whom are in their teens and two of whom are young women.
