Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres are appearing together on the cover of Oprah's O magazine, with early sales figures indicating the new edition will be the highest-selling issue in the magazine's 9-year history. DeGeneres, described by her wife Portia de Rossi as "the world's most famous lesbian" is "a woman who can make things happen," explains Winfrey in the December issue. "When she decided she wanted to be on the cover of O, she pulled out all the stops. It worked - for only the second time in O history, this December, I'm sharing the cover with a woman I adore." Winfrey had previously shared an O cover with first lady Michelle Obama. It's not the first time Winfrey and DeGeneres have worked together. In 1997, Winfrey played the psychiatrist who DeGeneres' on-screen character first 'came out' to in her TV sitcom. It was only a few months after DeGeneres herself came out publically as a lesbian in an interview on the Oprah show. TOGETHER FOREVER Appearing together on Winfrey's show this week, DeGeneres vowed to stay with de Rossi "till the day I die." The pair wed last year during the brief few months same-sex marriage was legal in California. "Anybody who's married knows there is a difference," DeGeneres added. "It feels like you're home. There's an anchor, there's a safety. I'm going to be with her until the day I die and I know that." de Rossi agreed. "The thing about being a gay couple is that, in the past, you referred to your wife and there were quotation marks around it and people could snicker about it. Now, it's fact, it's law - she's my wife. I get to say she's my wife and it's a fact." On the video below: Highlights from Ellen's quest to be on the cover of O magazine.
