Tue 10 Nov 2009 In: International News

Just two weeks after it gave priests the right to wed same-sex couples, Sweden  has ordained its first-ever openly gay bishop. A world first? Bishop Eva Brunne Eva Brunne, 55, is believed to be the world's first 'out' lesbian bishop. She lives with her long-term partner and three-year-old son. "Diversity is a big wealth," she said of her ordination in the Lutheran church. "I am happy and very proud to be part of a church that encourages people to make their own decisions," she added.
