A new gay film starring Queer Eye's Jai Rodriguez and Carmen Electra is now out in the States - but it looks a bit cheesy to us... Oy Vey! My Son Is Gay tells the story of a Jewish parents who struggle to come to terms with their son's gay relationship. Director Evgeny Afineevsky says the movie is about "how far we have come, yet how far we have to go to get to a world where, simply, 'Love is Love' and a gay couple can build a life together without scrutiny. "It is a mainstream comedy with a positive depiction of a gay marriage and a happy ending - perhaps perfect comic relief from the harsh realities of the current political climate surrounding the issues of marriage equality." Hopefully we'll see the movie here in NZ at a future OutTakes Film Fest. In the meantime, see its trailer below. Matt Akersten - 6th November 2009
