Camp FM moves to Wellington Access Radio

Fri 6 Nov 2009 In: New Zealand Daily News

New Zealand's gayest radio show Camp FM will return this weekend with a new timeslot on a new radio station. New home: Camp FM's Aaron Halliwell there recently, following serious budget cuts bringing the station's future into doubt. "Tonight none of the microphones were working, leaving us just to play music off a computer, and that's just not good enough," they blogged last week. Camp FM has now been signed on with Wellington Access Radio 783am, and will begin broadcasting on Sunday evenings from 9 until 10pm, thanks to sponsorship from The New Zealand AIDS Foundation and its Get It On! campaign. "We're so excited to be working with Get It On!," says co-host Andy Boreham. "Our audience will definitely benefit from our relationship with the NZAF and its important message." Access Radio hosts a popular lesbian radio show, but has in recent years been missing a voice for gay men. "It's been a number of years since we have had the queer male community represented on our airwaves," says Access Radio's programme manager Dayle Jones. "The last programme was the Gay BC, which was a huge hit back in the day - I expect Andy and Aaron to be even bigger!" Camp FM broadcasts on Wellington's Access Radio 783am, and streams live, anywhere, on the radio station's website every Sunday from 9 - 10pm. The show will also be available for download on demand if you can't listen live.
