The annual auction fundraiser for the Gay Auckland Business Association's Charitable Trust - traditionally held in the weeks before Christmas - has been rescheduled for March 2010. Up for grabs: Last year's GABA auction rasied over $11K "The decision to move the auction from its traditional December weekend has not been taken lightly," GABA Charitable Trust Chairperson Geoffrey Marshall explains. "Christmas is a very busy time of year for everyone and we've found it increasingly hard to locate suitable venues that are available to us, and the work required from volunteers to put on this major event is considerable. "We think that this new date will enable the Trust and GABA to re-organise the Auctionand is a better time of year as it follows the major GBLT community events held in February." GABA President Gavin Hyde confirms that March will become the new date for the annual Charity Auction from now on, "and the event will continue to focus on returning a strong charitable dividend to redistribute back to the wider GLBT community." Last December's GABA Auction raised $11,430, which was later distributed to a wide range of local LGBT community groups.
