Wed 28 Oct 2009 In: International News View at Wayback

High-profile Italian MP Piero Marrazzo has quit parliament just days after newspapers splashed headlines about his alleged encounter with a transsexual prostitute. Piero Marrazzo Media reports say there is video evidence of the episode which is said to have taken place in a Rome apartment in July. The MP had been blackmailed for undisclosed amounts of money, which he wrote cheques for. Marrazzo says he's been "living a nightmare" since then. "My personal condition of extreme suffering makes my stay at the helm of the region not longer useful for the Lazio citizens," he explained in his resignation.
