Auckland's 'fabulous makeover girls' Buffy and Bimbo are among the glamour models who appear in a new fundraising 2010 calendar to support animal welfare - in a project dubbed 'beauty for the beasts'. Beauty for the beasts: Bimbo its sales go towards the SPCA. SPCA Marketing manager, Martin Mackenzie says he's delighted with the calendar. "We really appreciate what Phoenix and girls are doing to support the society. Many of the animals who arrive at the SPCA have been neglected, physically abused or abandoned by their owners, and the cost of rescuing, treating and rehabilitating them is simply enormous." Every year the Auckland SPCA cares for over 15,000 animals by providing, shelter, care and attention. They also work to educate the public on having a humane understanding of animals' needs, and actively lobby for animal rights legislation. "The SPCA receives no local or central government funding and relies on the generosity of the community, and its people and businesses such as Phoenix and her team to ensure that the SPCA can continue to speak and act for these who can't speak for themselves," Mackenzie adds. The calendar is now on sale through Trade Me, from Phoenix Cosmetics' Stores in Kingsland and Takapuna, on Phoenix Cosmetics online store and through the SPCA.
