A Welsh transwoman who was raped by an attacker who was jailed for eight years this week, says she was forced to move house after her identity was made public. Kiron Singh Chand beat her up, then forced her to perform oral sex on him. She was then subjected to a harassment campaign including vilification on Facebook, being taunted in the street, and even humiliated in a poster campaign. "I was the victim and I was being treated like the criminal," she told the South Wales Evening Post. "My family and I have been through hell because of it. I was victimised because of my sexuality. If I had been a normal girl, I would not have been treated like this." Judge John Diehl QC agreed. "You did that because of that person's transsexuality and you did it to punish and humiliate her," he said in his summing up. "I don't suppose you'll accept this, but transsexuality is not the complainant's fault. This person was particularly vulnerable and you demonstrated no remorse."
