A newly-published study of the morals of New Zealanders has found that only 61% believe that "homosexual relations are morally acceptable." In July, reputable research firm UMR asked 750 Kiwis from all over the country a range of moral questions over the phone. There was significant gender split on the issue of "homosexual relations", with 69% of women asking yes to morally acceptable, but only 53% of men doing likewise. Reactions changed with age, too - 71% of those under 44 years old see homosexual relations as morally acceptable, compared with only 41% of those aged 60 years or older, according to the study. Meanwhile, 85% of the Kiwis surveyed thought polygamy was morally wrong, but sex outside marriage in general was morally acceptable for 77% for those surveyed.
