The organisers of Dunedin's L Ball, planned for this Saturday night in the Savoy Hotel, are thrilled with the numbers of women booking from around the South Island. "Dunedin used to have Women's Balls quite frequently," co-organiser Tara James tells GayNZ.com. "But not for the last few years, so we've brought it back." Women are invited to 'dress to impress' for Saturday night's event, which will include live lip-sync and dance shows, and four DJ's. So far, around 140 women have booked, with many more expected to confirm soon. "We've got people coming from Wanaka, Queenstown, Invercargill and even Christchurch, where they also have their own Lesbian Ball," James laughs. "This event is one for the women, and we invite anyone sapphic-inclinedto join us. Tickets are still on sale." Dunedin's L Ball will begin at 7:30pm this Saturday night. Tickets are $40 wages or $30 unwaged, which includes supper. Email christine.labes@otago.ac.nz to inquire about purchasing tickets, or check out the L Ball on Facebook.
