Gay team set for Auckland 5K walk

Wed 16 Sep 2009 In: New Zealand Daily News

A team of more than two dozen LGBT walkers are signed up for the Heart Foundation 5K walk on Auckland Marathon day Sunday 1 November, and more people are invited to join them. NZ AIDS Foundation Community Engagement Coordinator Val Incapas says he's keen to get a big team of people involved, as has new 'Get it On!' branded T-Shirts for them to wear. Each entrant is charged $35 to join the charity event. The fun walk starts from Sarsfield Street near the Harbour Bridge in Downtown Auckland. Buses are available to transport walkers from Victoria Park to an assembly area in Point Erin Park prior to the start. The walk finishes in Fanshawe Street next to Victoria Park. It's happening on the same day as the Auckland Marathon. "So far we have 27 people express their interest in joining us and they're starting to register now," says Incapas. "Anyone who wants to join us is welcome." To join the 'Get it On!' team or find out more information, email valeriano.incapas@nzaf.org.nz, and more information about Auckland Marathon day is here.
