Jamaica: NZ'er killed, gay hate note found

Jamaican police are reportedly investigating whether the violent murder of a New Zealander in Jamaica was an anti-gay hate crime. Found dead: John Terry John Terry, 65, was battered to death and found naked with a cord wrapped around his neck just outside his home in Montego Bay. A note beside the body said "This is what happen to ALL gays," included the Jamaican slang word for gay men "batty-man", and was signed "Gay-Man," reports British media. "It is unclear yet what the relationship was between Mr. Terry and his killer. But it appears the murder occurred after the pair returned to the home together," a police source told The Times Online. Terry was honourary consul to the British High Commission in Jamaica and had worked in the tourism sector for three decades. Local police report that Terry may have known his killer.
