Thu 20 Aug 2009 In: International News View at Wayback

Same sex couples in Queensland will soon be allowed to become parents through altruistic surrogacy, the state Premier has announced. Premier Anna Bligh says her government will legalise altruistic surrogacy for all Queenslanders, including same sex couples. The new laws will ensure children born through surrogacy would have the same rights as every child, Bligh says. "We will do this because each and every Queenslander who wants to be a parent should be allowed the opportunity to do so.''     Ref: CourierMail
