A smack's OK with GayNZ.com readers

Sat 25 Jul 2009 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

As New Zealand gets set to decide whether parents should be legally allowed to smack their children, most GayNZ.com readers have told us that they themselves wouldn't mind a smack – in bed. 207 people responded to our question "Is a smack acceptable as part of a good sexual encounter?" over the last two weeks, with 77% answering 'yes'. Almost half the respondents in our self-selected, non-scientific poll ticked the box suggesting "I like pleasure spiked with pain". Another 61 people answered "yes" to "You gotta show 'em who's boss". However, 62 people in the survey rejected the idea that smacking was an acceptable part of sex. 46 people told us "I don't do kinky stuff", and a further 16 noted that "Violence is wrong in any form." GayNZ.com's next poll is inspired by research that LGBT telephone counseling service OUTLine NZ is doing into healthy gay and lesbian relationships. This fortnight, our readers can tell us what aspects of their relationships are most important, ranging from great sex, to loyalty, to fun, to "having a special connection." The poll is now open on the lower right-hand corner of GayNZ.com's front page.
