Mr. Gay Wellington set for Labour weekend

The iconic Mr. Gay Wellington pageant is set to make a comeback this October, as "a sexy live and AV spectacular." The event, to be held at The Garden Club on Dixon Street, will be strictly theatre seating only, with a limited number available, organisers Aaron Halliwell and Andy Boreham tell GayNZ.com. "Only 120 tickets will be sold, so people should get in fast when they become available," Boreham advises. The official pageant will be followed by an after-party in the venue, open to the general public. The last Mr. Gay Wellington was held in the same location back in 2007, when it was called iMerst nightclub. Since then, a different pageant - called Mr. Club Ivy - was held at the end of last year, and winner Jade Neale is understood to be entering this year's 'Mr. Gay Wellington 2010'. "Wellington guys love to get up on stage and the community loves to get behind them", says Boreham. "We couldn't let such an iconic event be missing from the capital's LGBT calendar." Mr. Gay Wellington will be held at The Garden Club on Sunday 25 October (Labour weekend). The seated event will begin at 8pm, and the after-party will kick off around 10pm. Meanwhile, the annual Mr. Gay Waikato pageant has been confirmed for Saturday 29 August at Shine nightclub in Hamilton's Victoria Street. Contestants can enter by leaving their details at the bar. Mr Gay Wellington 2009 The Garden Club, 13 Dixon Street Entry is $10 on the door, get in fast to take advantage of limited seating. Doors open at 8pm, with the show starting at 9pm. This event is an official fundraiser for OUTLine October.
