Aussie Day of Action for same-sex marriage

Wed 22 Jul 2009 In: International News View at Wayback

The fight for same-sex marriage is heating up across the Tasman, with Saturday 1 August set to be a nationwide day of action - including rallies in major cities. The rallies are timed to coincide with the National Conference of the Australian Labor Party - which currently opposes marriage equality - planned over that weekend. "Australia is supposed to be 'the lucky country'! When it comes to marriage, we're falling behind - way behind. Take action on August 1st and let the government treat all Australian equally," says one of a series of internet-based ads to inform people about the issues in the lead up to the day of action.
