Google marks Pride month with rainbows

Thu 25 Jun 2009 In: International News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Google search words like 'gay', 'lesbian' and 'transgender' this month, and your results come with a subtle celebration of LGBT Pride Month - a little rainbow bar appears at the top of the results page. US President Barack Obama proclaimed June to be LGBT Pride Month two weeks ago. "I call upon the people of the United States to turn back discrimination and prejudice everywhere it exists," he said. Gay Pride parades and events are taking place in many countries of the world this month, and New Yrk City marks the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. Searching for the words 'queer', 'homosexual' and 'bisexual' also make the rainbow bar appear.
