Sat 6 Jun 2009 In: New Zealand Daily News

It's the first weekend of the month, which means it's International Gay Appreciation weekend at the Rock 'n' Bull bar next door to Family on K' Road - and for their drag diva Trinity Ice, the pressure is on. Rock 'n' Bull queen: Trinity Ice Audience voting last month saw Trinity Ice win 'Rock 'n' Bull IGA Queen, but tonight several divas will battle her at around 1:30am with shows at the bar, trying to win enough audience votes to take the title for themselves. Trinity Ice tells GayNZ.com she's looking forward to tonight's drag drama. "I've been doing drag officially for over two and a half years now, but my sisters used to dress me up as a girl when we were little," she laughs. The Rock 'n' Bull's manager Susan Stevens says the monthly Gay Appreciation weekends are proving popular at the bar. "You're sure of a warm welcome, and it's great for people who are new to the gay scene and want to chill out and meet new people."
