Now it's Christchurch's turn for Out Takes

Wed 3 Jun 2009 In: New Zealand Daily News

Out Takes has been a welcome escape from the wintery weather in Auckland and Wellington, and now it's Christchurch's turn to experience this year's LGBT Film Festival at the Regent Cinema on Worcester Street from tomorrow evening. Gay film fest: A scene from Were the World Mine Screening at the same time on the opening night will be Finn's Girl - an original lesbian suspense drama from Canada - and Mr. Right - a new comedy/drama set in London's trendy Soho district. A complimentary drink included in the $20 ticket price, with doors opening at 7:45pm, and prizes will be given away on the night. The Qtopia youth group is looking forward to seeing Were the World Mine this Friday, and are offering a special discounted ticket price for their members. The homoerotic musical fantasy film is proving to be a highlight of the festival. On Tuesday 9 June, Christchurch's Gay Business Association will host an Out Takes pre-film networking function from 5:30 - 6:30pm at the Regent, especially for current and prospective GBA members, GBA sponsors and Out Takes sponsors, before the German film Fashion Victims is shown. The official printed programme for 2009's Out Takes Film Festival is now available free from gay and LGBT-friendly venues and cafes around Christchurch, and in the lobby of the Regent Cinema. Film booking details and a PDF version of the Out Takes Festival guide are available from the Out Takes 2009 website. The official trailer for Were the World Mine is shown below.
