Last call for Auckland LGBT Fest planners

Tue 2 Jun 2009 In: New Zealand Daily News

A range of people with a great diversity of background and experience have put their hands up to join the group which will organise Auckland's new LGBT Festival for 2010, says event promoter Kent Phillips. Festival planner: Kent Phillips "The offers of support and interest in joining the organising group have grown as time goes on, and there seems to have been a nice buzz around regarding the launch of the new festival for 2010," says Phillips. "I wish to thank those who have already put their hand up." Phillips sent out a call for interested people to volunteer to join the festival's organizing committee last month, following the news that Auckland's annual Hero Festival would not return. "There has been a great diversity in background and experience from those who have expressed interest," says Phillips. "This wealth of experience will be a great tool in creating the Festival and its key events." The organising group hopes to initially meet before the end of this month "so that we can get the ball rolling." The email cut-off for joining the organising group is this Friday 5 June, with Phillips adding that he is still looking for last-minute offers to join the planning crew. Interested people are invited to email: glbtfestival2010@xtra.co.nz
