Lambert touted as new Freddie Mercury

Sun 24 May 2009 In: International News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Rumours are spreading through the global entertainment industry that the runner up from the American Idol talent quest may be the replacement for the late Freddie Mercury. Freddy Mercury sound-alike Adam Lambert Mercury, one of the most accomplished singers and showmen to ever front a rock group, died of complications from HIV in 1991. He never publicly confirmed his homosexuality but had been living with a man for the last six years of his life. Now Adam Lambert, who performed a la Freddie Mercury in the US talent show, is being touted as a new front man for the mega-group Queen, which has faded without Mercury's dynamic and flamboyant presence. Queen's surviving members are understood to have requested a meeting with Lambert.
