Fri 15 May 2009 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

A packed week of Christchurch Pride events starts tonight with a launch party for the DVD of Christchurch LGBT history documentary Through Rainbow Coloured Glasses. Hosted by Arches Café, the free party begins at 7pm, with the DVD on sale there for $25. Later this evening it'll be Women's Night at the Iconic Bar upstairs on the corner of Manchester and Gloucester Streets, with drink specials and a DJ planned. Saturday evening features the UniQ dance Inferno party upstairs at the Bedford bar, and Gay/Lesbian Vege Dining group are going out for dinner. Christchurch Pride Week committee volunteer Alex Baguley says the list of people and groups involved in Sunday's Fabulous Family Fun Day in Paparoa Primary School Hall is still expanding. Stalls confirmed for the day include Qtopia, Junk2Funk, the Gay Business Association, the Rainbow Families Trust, NZ Police Diversity Liaison Officers, the COOL group, West Island Beverages, the gay/les vege dining group, the vegetarian centre chch and UniQ CHCH. "We have load of activities planned - and I'm sure more will develop," says Baguley. "An Egg and spoon Race, Drag Relay - think high heels and wigs - talent and drag shows, a Hand Bag Hurl and Face Painting. We also have cake stalls, sausage sizzles and more." Fabulous Family Fun Day happens this Sunday 17 May from 10am until 4pm. Organisers are still looking for more donations to their White Elephant Stall - email minerva84@gmail.com. Full details about Christchurch Pride Week are on the official website.
