2009's Out Takes Film Festival will begin in Auckland on Thursday 21 May, with a choice of two films and an after-party at the sophisticated Opium bar. London love: A scene from Mr. Right Screening at the same time at the Sky City Cinemas on Queen Street will be Finn's Girl - an original lesbian suspense drama from Canada - and Mr. Right - a new comedy/drama set in London's gay village Soho. The Festival's premiere night will also feature over $1,000 worth of prize giveaways for audience members. Each opening night film is limited to only 200 tickets, so the Reel Queer team advise Festival-goers to book their tickets soon to avoid disappointment. $20 tickets include admittance to the after-party at nearby Opium where there will be drink specials and Welsh DJ Kate Rey spinning discs. The official printed programme for 2009's Out Takes Film Festival is now available free from gay and LGBT-friendly venues around central Auckland, and Sky City Cinema's Queen Street lobby. Out Takes 2009 will also begin in Wellington on Thursday 28 May, and Christchurch on Thursday 4 June. Film booking details and a PDF version of the Out Takes 2009 Festival guide are available from the official Out Takes website. The trailer for Finn's Girl is shown below.
