Most drag queens are 'lame', 'outdated' and 'plain boring', Auckland gossip writer Bridget Saunders has typed on her blog today. Not coming out?: Drag queens under fire from gossip blogger "I have said this to a lot of gays and they have all agreed with me," she declares on a blog entry entitled Queerzzzzzzzzzzzz. "Drag has been done to death. Unless it is done by a really talented performer, a truly great Diva, it is plain boring. "Seriously," she continues, "how entertaining can a man dressing up in ladies' clothes and miming really be? This stuff is so so old - men have been doing it for donkey's years. It's lame. It's outdated." Saunders admits that there are some good drag queens out there, but for the most part "it really is time for the boys to put their trousers back on and go back to their day jobs." She adds that being gay in itself is no longer interesting: "because it is so accepted now. It is everywhere and no one much cares." Saunders' readers on the Stuff.co.nz website today have left their comments about her views, ranging from "I couldn't agree more" to "I find this article to be insulting and uninspired."
