The fun and firmly tongue-in-cheek categories for Christchurch's Cruz nightclub's annual Awards night have been announced - including Hottest on the Dancefloor, Gym-Bunniest guy or girl, and even Outstanding Gayness. Coverted honours: last year's Cruz awards trophies Planned for Saturday 23 May, the night will also recognise Christchurch's Teen-Queen - The New Face of Summer 08/09, Mr. or Ms. Straight, but Everyone Thinks I'm Gay and the dubious honour Mr. or Ms. Permanently in Cubicle #1. Nomination forms for awards are now available at Cruz's bar, and winners will again be selected on the night by audience vote. Now firmly established as an annual event on the Christchurch scene, the 2009 Cruz Awards have been fine-tuned, in particular adding the new Straight, but Everyone Thinks I'm Gay award to reflect the increasingly metrosexual nature of the local scene, says the nightclub's management. The prizes have also been upgraded since last year, with each winner receiving along with their coveted trophy a dinner for two to the value of $170 at the gay-friendly SEZN Restaurant - which won the Entertainment Book Fine Dine Award for 2008. The awards will be compered this year by the Divine Miss Joanne Clarke, author of Never Trust a Skinny Cook, with show numbers by Joanne herself plus the city's local drag divas Stella and Kitana.
