Auckland's regular alternative gay clubbing night will end this month, with its promoter telling GayNZ.com "it's time to kill it when it's still at its best." The fortnightly event on Thursdays had been going for over a year and a half, with dozens of live bands featured and exciting themed nights pulling in young fashionable punters. The Sohomo crew has also put on events at Wellington's San Francisco Bath House venue several times. Sohomo promoter Paul Philips says the brand will live on, but only to provide larger events that an LGBT audience would enjoy - perhaps even on a monthly basis. "We're wrapping up the fortnightly thing with Sohomo," he confirms. "We're finding our numbers are getting smaller and smaller for our regular parties and bigger and bigger for our parties that have international artists and major production values. The last Sohomo night is planned for Thursday 30 April at 373 K' Road, with an apocalyptic theme. Regular and guest Sohomo DJ's will include Babes!Babes!Babes!, Meltron, Tidball, Oscar Nutt, La Beat Debauchery and Boo U Whore, along with performance art from Champ, and a poster wall of all eleven Sohomo posters from the last twenty months.
