Safe Sex Poster Boys in survey spotlight

Fri 17 Apr 2009 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Last year's Safe Sex Poster Boys campaign is being evaluated as the NZ AIDS Foundation team plan new condom promotions - and there's an iPod prize draw for people who complete an online survey about the campaign. Condoms every time: The Safe Sex Poster Boys The six 'poster boys' were chosen during a national competition in gay venues and online in 2007, and appeared on bus shelter ads, condom packs, online ads, posters and in gay media. They also made several public appearances at gay events. "The aim of the campaign was to promote safe sex practice through use of condoms and lube for anal sex," explains the NZAF's Gay Men's health team. The survey, open to men who have sex with men in New Zealand, starts with questions about the respondent's age, ethnicity, area of residence, and sexual identity. It then asks several questions about the Safe Sex Poster Boys campaign and its impact on the respondent's condom use. "The survey is short, but your opinions are important to help develop and improve NZAF resources," says the NZAF. At the end of the survey, respondents can give an email address to go into the draw to win one of two new 4GB iPod Shuffles. The email address will be stored separately from the survey answers, so the survey answers can be kept confidential and anonymous. The Safe Sex Poster Boys survey is on the official campaign website, linked below.
