The BBC says it has dealt "swifty and firmly" with a well-known radio DJ who mocked openly-gay singer Will Young on his radio show. Dealt with "swifty and firmly": BBC DJ Chris Moyles Back in January, BBC Radio 1 host Chris Moyles made up new lyrics to Young's songs, which British broadcasting watchdog Ofcom - responding to several complaints of homophobia from listeners - says could be seen to be "promoting and condoning certain negative stereotypes based on sexual orientation". Moyles' made-up lyrics included: "Oooh Will Young here, mmmmh. I'm here, it's Will's birthday and as the years go by I get more very gay. When you saw me years ago you didn't know, but now I'm the gayest fella you probably know. Mmm I like to wear a silly hat, I get camper by the hour, oh would you look at the muck in here. I'm Will Young and I'm gay." The BBC admitted Moyles' lyrics were "misjudged and unacceptable", and also claims he was reprimanded after the show. "We dealt with this swiftly and firmly at the time - we spoke to Chris to make sure he understood these comments were unacceptable," said a BBC spokesperson.
