Twelve gay/lesbian runners and walkers in two competing teams finished today's Round the Bays fun run around Auckland's waterfront. Winners: Team Sparkle A fast member of Steven Oates' Team Sparkle helping them to narrowly win out over Team GayNZ.com. Round the Gays: Team GayNZ.com More than 70,000 people completed this morning's 8.4 kilometre race, which is an annual fundraiser for several children's charities. The six Team GayNZ.com entrants wore white T-Shirts with the website's logo, and the six Team Sparkle entrants wore black 'I (heart) Team Sparkle' T-Shirts with the slogan 'Sprinting for Safe Sex' on the back, generously supplied by the NZ AIDS Foundation. Both team captains say they are pleased with the day's run, and are hoping to attract more LGBT teams and runners to race in next year's Round the Bays.
