A major undercover police operation has resulted in the seizure of 2,000 ecstasy tablets thought to be arranged for Sydney's Mardi Gras events tomorrow night. The Surry Hills Regional Enforcement Squad swooped on a McDonalds restaurant last night and arrested two men, who will be charged with selling a large commercial supply of a prohibited drug. The ecstasy haul has a street value of AUS$80,000 (NZ$102,300), and was the target of a four-month investigation by police. "The disruption of this drug supply chain has put a dent into the market and it will reduce the amount of drugs available," a police chief told the Daily Telegraph. "It's essential that people understand we are going to target drug crime up to and including the Mardi Gras parade."
