The Simpsons' latest episode shows Marge smooching with her attractive female friend. Puckering up: Marge Simpson's sapphic lip-lock But the scene, transmitted last Sunday in the States, is all a figment of Homer's over-active imagination. The lengthy smooch prompted much discussion on The Simpsons internet forums – some fans thought it was hilarious, while others said they were upset and uncomfortable. The episode will be shown locally on TV3 later this year. Marge's older sister Patty came out as a lesbian in a 2005 episode, and the long-running show has also featured several gay-friendly episodes and storylines. A recent episode of TV comedy drama Desperate Housewives also featured an unexpected lesbian kiss, between two of the central female characters.
