Hungarian tourist Ferdinand Ambach, accused of killing of gay Onehunga man Ron Brown in December 2007, will face a jury trial at Auckland's High Court, beginning on Monday 22 June. Ron Brown The start date was set today by Justice Stevens, who will preside over the case. The trial is expected to take at least two weeks. In the early hours of Saturday 8 December 2007 police found Ambach upstairs in Brown's Onehunga home. Brown was badly injured and slumped unconscious downstairs. He later died of his injuries. His home had been trashed and household effects including a bed had been thrown through upstairs windows. Ambach is pleading not guilty to charges of murder, intentional damage, and assault. He has been in police custody since the overnight attack in Brown's home.
