"Those who came last year will remember the transformation of the park, with marquees, tables, chairs, white table clothes and huge purple and green flags flying in the wind. This year will be ever bigger and better." Attendees are invited to come prepared with picnic food and drinks. Silvana Sylvestro will we selling her Italian treats on site. "Silvana is well known in Matakana for her high quality authentic fare and we are delighted she has agreed to have a stall at Heroes Out West." Auckland's Pride '09 Festival is important for the visibility of the LGBT community, "and feeling good about ourselves," Rock tells GayNZ.com. "For me, events are as much about letting our friends, families and work colleagues know we like who we are, you know, 'I'm out and I'm proud!'" Tickets are now on sale for $15 waged, $10 unwaged.
