Sydney: Warning over AIDS cure scam

Thu 5 Feb 2009 In: International News

HIV experts in Sydney are warning the gay community not to fall victim to a backyard AIDS cure scam, reports the Sydney Star Observer. A man who does not have scientific or medical qualifications has approached gay people claiming to have developed an organic cure for AIDS, cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure. "The pharmaceuticals don't want this getting out, so I'm trying to keep it low profile with like-minded people I can trust," the man claimed. A professor at the National Centre in HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research warned Sydneysiders against approaching the man for his 'cure', which has not gone through credible clinical trials.
