New Zealand's biggest LGBT Festival was officially launched last night at Purple bar, with several event promoters taking their turn on the mic to introduce a range of Pride activities for a busy February in Auckland. GayNZ.com's Pride '09 photo crew: Nemo Craig, Matt Akersten OUTLine NZ's Tennis Tournament; the Heroic Gardens Tour; Heroes OUT West day of lesbian entertainment in Henderson; and the iconic Hero Party, planned for the Transmission Room on Friday 20 February. New events for 2009 include several lesbian socials on Valentine's Day, a Foam Party at Family bar, Rebecca Swan's Assume Nothing art exhibition, a Lover's Breakfast at Dorothy's Sister, and Auckland Music Theatre's performance of La Cage Aux Folles (The Birdcage) in Western Springs. Last night's launch event rounded out with a drag show from Daphne Bush and live songs from Lee Paige. Meanwhile, Auckland Lesbian Business Association were already enjoying their first Pride '09 event - a cruise around Manukau Harbour.
