The team creating next month's Hero Party say they've got a big cast of entertainers lined up for the 'monster' party - but are now in need of a new drag show as the Caluzzi girls are not available. Caluzzi drag cabaret restaurant on K' Road was approached to provide a fabulous show for the 20 February party, and were initially supportive and enthusiastic before admitting that time constraints during the busy month of Pride '09 Festival events mean they couldn't commit to the party. "We want to thank Campbell and the girls at Caluzzi for the effort they have put in to try and make a show happen," says the party's co-organiser Candy Phloss. "They have done everything humanly possible to make the show work, but with pre-existing commitments to other events, their participation was just not possible. "Hero '09 is very much a community-based event with many acts being contributed from individuals from all parts of the community. The design and format of the show have been finalised, we got a performing cast, backup dancers and buff boys to be part of it, butare missingthe main actresses," she explains. Phloss says there have been kind offers from Queens outside Auckland to come and perform. "But as this is a festival for the Auckland Community, we'd definitely prefer to have Auckland Queens," she says. Any drag divas wanting to offer their assistance for the main show, as well as the night, please contact Candy Phloss via email at missphloss@missphloss.com. This year's Hero Party is scheduled for Friday 20 February at the Transmission Room in central Auckland. The organisers say at least one third of the 550 party tickets have already been sold, but many are still available from DJ Station, The Women's Bookshop and Erox stores.
