Iceland's Social Affairs Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir could become Prime Minister while the nation's government regroups after the previous PM and his cabinet stood down this week - meaning she'd become the world's first out lesbian leader. Icelandic Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir Voted Iceland's most popular politician in a recent poll, Sigurdardottir, 66, says she is prepared to become the interim Prime Minister as long as she senses that her position is backed by sufficient trust. The country's government quit this week after a financial crisis which severely affected Iceland's banking system. A general election has been called for 9 May. If she does become Prime Minister, she would become the second-ever openly LGBT head of government in the world, since gay conservative Per-Kristian Foss was briefly interim Prime Minister of Norway in 2002.
