A film about much-loved Kiwi singing and yodeling lesbian twin-set Jools and Lynda Topp will be released in cinemas nationwide on Thursday 9 April. Coming to a cinema near you: The Topp Twins Topp Twins - Untouchable Girls, a movie-length documentary on the lives of the sisters and their more than 25 years in entertainment, was funded by The Film Commission and directed by award-winning documentary-maker Leanne Pooley. The film follows a difficult time for Jools, who recently battled breast cancer. The twins were inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame at last September's APRA Silver Scroll Awards in Auckland, and back in 2004 were made members of the New Zealand Order of Merit. The pair came out as lesbians in the 1970's, and have been visible and proud members of the LGBT community. "We are taking a known lesbian act and we're putting it on primetime TV and we're getting mums and dads and kids to watch it", Jools says on the Topp Twins website.
