The man who gave the world Spiderman, the Fantastic Four, the Hulk and many other comic book and movie heroes has a new project - bringing a gay superhero to the TV screen. We need a hero: Stan Lee Former Marvel comics president Stan Lee is basing the show on the novel Hero by Perry Moore, reports a UK tabloid. In the book, high school basketball player Thom Creed is forced to hide his superpowers… and his sexuality. A TV industry insider told the UK's Sun newspaper: "It was only a matter of time before we had our first gay superhero. And if there is one man who can make him a success it is Stan Lee." US TV has already seen an openly-gay superhero of sorts though. A gay comicbook called Rage appeared in the US version of gay drama Queer as Folk, a creation of two of its characters. Among Rage's superhuman abilities was the power to heal gay men's injuries through having sex with them.
