The team putting together Auckland's Big Gay Out family fun day in Coyle Park is seeking volunteers to give an hour or two of their time to help out at the event. Fun in the sun: The Big Gay Out needs your help "I am humbly asking to spare us some of your time during the day," says health promoter Val Incapas. Volunteers can help with a variety of tasks including crowd care, setting up stalls, and working backstage with entertainers. The date for this year's Big Gay Out is Sunday 8 February, during Waitangi weekend. Free entertainment on stage will include NZ Idol 2005 winner Rosita Vai, the Caluzzi Girls, live band Codeine Like Candy, Bonnie Huruni, Bumpa Love from Melbourne, The Muse and many more. Games will reward adults, children and dogs who take part in fun activities in front of the stage during the day. Organised by the NZ AIDS Foundation, the Big Gay Out each year aims to help building strong LGBT communities, and also encourage safe sex behaviour among gay and bisexual men.
