Two dancefloors, ten DJ's and over fifty live performers are lined up for 2009's Hero Party, planned for Auckland's Transmission Room on Friday 20 February. Mistress of ceremonies: Candy Phloss "This is your night to be outrageously glamorous, to escape the nine to five rat-race and just be someone fabulous," says Mistress of Ceremonies Candy Phloss. "There has recently been speculation about the future of the iconic party after Pride '09 officially took the reigns for both the festival and party in the middle of December last year, but we can now confirm that it's all go," she reveals. "We've got ten DJ's lined up for two dance floors, including Babes! Babes! Babes! and DJ A.D.A.M from Auckland's Sohomo, DJ Donald Bennett, DJ Raj and DJ Flick. "On top of this we have a line-up of over 50 performers including the Club Kids, live act Codeine Like Candy, Drag Shows, Fashion shows, Burlesque performances, fire poi and staff performers, alive air brush body art display – available for volunteers on the night – and even a Dungeon King and Dominatrix." "This is the party I've wanted to run for years," Phloss tells GayNZ.com. "It's been themed around the film Party Monster, which is based on the 1980's Club Kids who just wanted to be fabulous, to be something different, and this is your invitation to do so on the night. "More importantly, we want to take the Hero Party back to the experience it was in the early 90's, when the party was a night like no other,a night to definitely be remembered. This a participation event, rather than a spectator one so feel free to take the opportunity to dress up, bring out yourparty attitude, and bring in2009 in style!" The Hero Party 2009 begins at 9pm on Friday 20 February at the Transmission Room – the large studio event space on Mayoral Drive which hosted last year's Celebration party. A strictly limited 550 party tickets will be available after Friday 16 January priced at $65 for General Admission and $85 for VIP room entry. They can be purchased online soon and at locations shortly to be advised.
