Boss told fired gay man: "Sue me!"

Sat 10 Jan 2009 In: International News View at Wayback

A hotel employee in Tennessee says he was fired from his job for being gay, by a boss who dared him to sue. David Hill: Will sue over hotel homophobia "They literally said to me that because of my orientation and my 'alternative lifestyle' that I was not a fit for the hotel," explained David Hill to MSWV News. "The owner said 'I don't give a damn. They can sue me. I will not have any of the gays in leadership roles in my hotel.' And that's a quote," he added. The manager would not speak to media, but the assistant manager was available to explain the decision, which he said he did not agree with: "The owner, Mr. Surti, comes from a culture that is not very tolerant to the gay lifestyle, and therefore he felt it necessary to have him removed from the workforce at the property" Hill is now planning legal action.
