Eleven gay bar managers in Seattle have received letters warning them that their patrons will be attacked with a deadly poison in coming days. Ricin threat: The letter, sent to 11 gay bars in Seattle "Your establishment has been targeted," says the letter. "I have in my possession approximately 67 grams of ricin with which I will indiscriminately target at least five of your clients." Some of the managers were unnerved by the hateful letter, reports gay writer Dan Savage on The Stranger website. "I felt sick when I read it," said one bar owner. "It's so vile. It's just hatred. It made me worry for all the other bars, and for my bartenders, and our clientele." Ingesting a significant amount of ricin can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, hallucinations and seizures, and can be fatal. Bar staff in several of the threatened venues have put signs up urging customers to not leave drinks unattended.
