Retreat provides "time-out" for HIV+ people

Wed 31 Dec 2008 In: New Zealand Daily News

The annual HIV+ Men's Retreat, set for Easter Weekend at Vaughan Park in Auckland's Long Bay, will be a chance to both relax and learn in the company of other HIV+ men from all over New Zealand, say the Body Positive crew. Beginning on Good Friday and going through until Easter Sunday, the Retreat offers treats such as complimentary massages, great food and even some night time entertainment in a private environment. The Retreat starts on a Friday afternoon/evening with an informal meal so everyone can meet each other. Lots of people will be coming for the first time, so don't worry if you don't know anyone, say the organisers. Structured workshops take place on Saturday and Sunday on a range of subjects including new medical, legal, employment, psychological, and WINZ information, along with relaxation techniques, support services on offer, gay issues and more. There are sometimes two workshops on at any one time, plus outdoor events based at the adjacent Sir Peter Blake Marine Education
