Global hunt for lesbian over son kidnapping

Fri 19 Dec 2008 In: International News View at Wayback

A court in the UK has issued a worldwide police alert to find a lesbian who is believed to have left Britain with her son. Joanne Skinner had son Ashley almost eight years ago with sperm from gay friend Michael Turberville. Just after the Ashley's third birthday, Skinner halted visits from Turberville, leading the gay dad to go to court. He has now begged the police to help him find Ashley. "It is gut-wrenching not to be able to see my son," Turberville told The Evening Standard. "I love him so much. This has ripped my life apart. He was like a little me. I miss him every day." Police believe Skinner may be in the United States, or even in Australia. Sir Mark Potter, President of the High Court's Family Division, says Ashley is being deprived of a relationship with his father. "This mother's behaviour is to be deplored. She has gone to extreme lengths to go to ground with Ashley and to cover her trail so as to avoid detection. It seems she has taken, and will continue to take, every opportunity to defeat the court process," he concluded.
