Sydney Mardi Gras have announced their 2009 Festival line-up, which includes appearances from comedienne Joan Rivers, Scottish actor Alan Cumming and soul-singing diva Roberta Flack. Mardi Gras guest: Funny lady Joan Rivers This year's Festival theme is 'Nations United', and features artists from around the world, including Japan, Canada, America and Singapore. Rivers brings her new stand-up comedy show, and Cumming will perform his new one-man show. Sydney Mardi Gras 2009 begins with the annual Fair Day in Victoria Park on Sunday 15 February – the weekend after our Big Gay Out is celebrated in Auckland. The main events will as usual be the Mardi Gras Parade and Party, which will roll on Saturday 7 March. Olympic gold-winning diver Matthew Mitcham will lead the parade, and The Freemasons and Paul Oakenfold are headlining the party, with more acts to be announced. A Harbour Party, Film Festival, Youth Festival and several extra dance parties and event after parties are also part of 2009's Mardi Gras.
