Just in time for the holiday season, the latest NZ Listener magazine has selected their 100 Best Books of 2008 – which includes the story of Aotearoa's gay male history, and an out British traveler's no-holds-barred account of his adventures in New Zealand. Chris Brickell's Mates "nonetheless to be relished" says the Listener. Fallowell, now back in the UK, had told GayNZ.com back in March that his book was "a love letter to NZ - it's not a sex letter. And therefore it contains elements of conflict and discomfort."
